RESUMEN
La tarea de investigar el nacimiento de la cultura física de un país ha ocupado largos años de incesante búsqueda a muchos historiadores, arqueólogos y personas que de una forma u otra sintieron interés por estas actividades, con el objetivo de encontrar datos, cimientos, inscripciones, y elementos variados que permitieran la reconstrucción bastante real de aquella época. Por lo que el presente trabajo se centralizaen dos aspectos básicos: presentar un bosquejo de los orígenes de la cultura física en Cuba y sus disímiles modalidades deportivas, la educación física y la recreación desde nuestros aborígenes hasta el año 1959, y las transformaciones del panorama deportivo cubano después de llegada la Revolución.

SUMMARY
The task of investigating the birth of the physical culture of a country, has occupied long years of incessant search to many historians, archaeologists and peoples who in one way or another felt interest in these activities, in order to find data, foundations, inscriptions, and varied elements that allowed the reconstruction quite real of that time. So this work focuses on two basic aspects: presenting a sketch of the origins of physical culture in Cuba, its dissimilar sports, physical education and recreation from our aborigines until 1959, and the transformations of the panorama Cuban sports after the arrival of the Revolution.
