James M. Buchanan Jr. (1919-)
Premiu Nobel 1986
Economist nordamerican, nascut la 2
octombrie la Murfreesboro (Tennessee). A obtinut
Premiul Nobel in Economie in 1986 pentru dezvoltarea bazelor contractuale si
constitutionale ale teoriei adoptarii deciziilor economice si politice.
Buchanan a studiat in universitatile
din Tennessee si Chicago si a predat in Universitatile din Pennsylvania si
Virginia. Specialist in proprietate publica, realizeaza studii interesante
asupra rolului inflatiei ca impozit si asupta naturii datoriei publice. Este
lider si teoretician al curentului Public
Choice ce analizeaza forma in care se adopta deciziile
publice ce influenteaza functionarea sistemului economic.
