RESUMEN                                 
El Plan Nacional de Desarrollo del Paraguay, considera al turismo como “un sector sustancial que genera recursos importantes y envía señales positivas o negativas al exterior del país”. Esta investigación cualitativa, de alcance descriptivo, tuvo por finalidad identificar, describir y evaluar los recursos turísticos en el Departamento de Ñeembucú. Se ha recurrido a fuentes primarias y secundarias para la obtención de las informaciones, la revisión de la literatura, la observación in situ y la entrevista a actores claves de la gestión turística fueron las estrategias utilizadas para la identificación de recursos y atractivos de cada distrito, permitiendo inventariar y generar un diagnóstico, en base a estándares establecidos por la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT) y a los consensuados por el Centro Interamericano de Capacitación Turística (CICATUR). Este trabajo expone la situación en que se encuentran los recursos y atractivos turísticos disponibles en la región.

TOURISM AS A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OPTION
Abstract
The National Development Plan of Paraguay considers tourism as "a sector that generates important resources and sends positive or negative signals abroad." This qualitative research, of descriptive scope, was determined to identify, describe and evaluate tourism resources in the Department of Ñeembucú. Primary and secondary sources have been used to obtain information, review of the literature, on-site observation and interview with key stakeholders in tourism management were the strategies used to identify resources and treatments in each district, necessary to inventory and generate a diagnosis, based on the parameters established by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and those agreed by the Inter-American Center for Tourism Training (CICATUR). This work exposes the situation in which the resources and tourist attractions available in the region are.
