Resumo (JEL R11): O município de Urubici, no estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, tem uma série de atrativos naturais e históricos que o colocam como um grande centro para o turismo de montanha no contexto brasileiro, mas ainda é problemático em várias questões relacionadas ao aparato turístico. São necessárias então programas de promoção turística e desenvolvimento rural, mas isso só é possível através do conhecimento do território e das dinâmicas geográficas que o compõem. Ao analisar as infraestruturas locais e os atrativos da paisagem, é perceptível a necessidade de um maior investimento governamental, mas também a de uma inserção da população local no turismo, promovendo o desenvolvimento necessário não só ao município, mas à região Serrana como um todo.

Mountain tourism in Urubici/SC – Brazil: learning with the portuguese experience

Resume (JEL R11): The Urubici municipality, Santa Catarina state, Brazil, have a series of natural and historical attractives, that put it as a big center for mountain tourism in Brazilian context, but remains problematic in a lot of questions related to the touristic display. So, programs of touristic promotion and rural development are necessary, but that is only possible through the knowing of the territory and the geographical dynamics that compose it. Analyzing the local infrastructure and the landscape attractive, it is noticeable the need of a bigger governmental investment, but also the insertion of the local population in tourism, promoting the needed development not just for the municipality, but for the entire Serrana region.
