Resumen

El Sistema Integral de Calidad Turística Española en Destinos —SICTED— servía para evaluar establecimientos individuales y también para gestionar globalmente destinos turísticos. En el año 2000, la Secretaría General de Turismo y la Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias lo habían impulsado en España. Desde 2005, la Diputación y la Cámara de Comercio de Barcelona, con el apoyo de consultoras turísticas, lo estaban desplegando en la provincia de Barcelona. En 2006, el Ayuntamiento de Vic lo implantó en su ciudad y, en 2008, 73 establecimientos recibieron la distinción SICTED. Pero, a pesar del convencimiento de que la implantación del SICTED fue beneficiosa, se había invertido mucho esfuerzo y recursos, y no resultaba fácil explicar su rentabilidad concreta para la ciudad.

Establishing the Spanish Quality System for Tourist Destinations (SICTED): A teaching case study of destination management.

Abstract

The Integrated Spanish Quality System for Tourist Destinations (SICTED) has been used to evaluate individual establishments and also for overall management of tourist destinations. In 2000 the General Department of Tourism of the Spanish Government and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces promoted it throughout Spain. Since 2005 the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Chamber of Commerce have been promoting it, with the support of tourist consultancies, in the province of Barcelona. In 2006, Vic City Council adopted it for the city and by 2008 73 establishments had received the SICTED mark of distinction. SICTED adoption was generally believed to be beneficial, despite the great effort involved and use of resources, and without any clear explanation of the specific benefits to the city.
