RESUMEN:

En la actualidad, el turismo es uno de los mayores y más dinámicos sectores de la actividad económica. Afecta a varios sectores de la economía, lo que contribuye positivamente al desarrollo social y económico de la comunidad. Sin embargo, existe una serie de aspectos negativos de la actividad turística, como sus impactos medioambientales. Por ello, las nuevas tendencias en desarrollo sostenible tratan de compatibilizar la actividad turística con el respeto al medio ambiente. Este trabajo pretende evaluar la importancia concedida al este aspecto por los turistas en una ciudad patrimonio. Este tipo de turismo cultural está sujeto a una importante componente estacional que produce grandes aglomeraciones de turistas, lo que altera y degrada el medio ambiente, uno de los activos más importantes de un destino turístico. El trabajo empírico se realizó en la ciudad de Cuenca, caracterizada por su oferta cultural y natural, y dirigido a turistas que visitaron la ciudad durante el año 2005.

ABSTRACT:

Today, tourism is one of the largest and dynamically developing sectors of economic activities. It affects several sectors of economy, which positively contribute to the social and economic development of the community. But there are also a number of negative sides of tourism activity, as their environmental impacts. Therefore, new trends in sustainable development are trying to combine tourism with environmental protection. This study aims to assess the importance given to this aspect by tourists in town heritage. This kind of cultural tourism is subject to significant seasonal component that produces large concentrations of tourists, disrupting and degrading the environment, one of the most important assets of a tourist destination. The empirical work was undertaken in the city of Cuenca, characterized by its natural and cultural offerings, and aimed at tourists visiting the city during 2005.
