RESUMEN: La historia de las finanzas, políticas públicas, y globalización en México nos ayuden entender los cambios que ha habido hoy en día. Con el alcance de la globalización, y todo que viene con el, vale la pena entender todo lo que nos llevó a las circunstancias que estamos viviendo para mejorar las decisiones que hacemos en el futuro. La globalización ha tenido cambios impactantes en las vidas rurales de los campesinos en México y ha sido una de los ímpetus para que surgieron las microfinanzas como un parte importante del desarrollo del país y la vida rural. Es crítico que entendemos el rol de las microfinanzas en cuanto como pueden ayudar a la gente y aumentar el desarrollo, pero también tenemos que entender los riesgos de ellas.

ABSTRACT: The history of finances, public policy, and globalization in Mexico help us to understand the changes that are taking place today. With the extensive reach that globalization has obtained, and everything that implies, it is worthwhile to understand what has brought us to where we stand today in order to better help us make decisions for the future. Globalization has brought about important changes in the lives of rural people in Mexico and has been one of the primary impetuses for microfinance as an important part of development in Mexico and in rural life. It is critical that we understand the roll of microfinance in terms of how it can help people and expand development, but also so that we understand the risks associated with it.
