Resumen
El sector de Febres-Cordero, es una región que abarca el territorio del cantón Babahoyo, en la cual se concentran grandes recursos agrícolas para el país, sin embargo, contrasta con la baja dinámica económica presente, asociada a la presencia de indicadores sociales muy bajos. La zona de “Rio Chico” está ubicada en el sector norte de la zona de estudio, localizado en la latitud 1º23'16" Sur y en la longitud 79º 26' 32" Oeste, con una altitud promedia de 27 metros del nivel del mar. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la sostenibilidad de la producción en tres fincas productoras en el ámbito de la agricultura familiar. Se investigaron tres UPA’s de producción agropecuaria y se distribuyeron en espaciamiento serial con DATUM PSD 94. Para la determinación de la sostenibilidad se utilizó la matriz IGS, con la medición de diálogo de saberes, talleres del futuro, observaciones y mediciones directas, encuestas y entrevistas informales con los campesinos, un análisis FODA y la evaluación de la sustentabilidad. Los resultados determinaron la metodología desarrollada permitió evaluar a través de indicadores, las fincas agrícolas de forma rápida, sencilla y participativa la sostenibilidad ya sea comparando la evolución de una misma a través del tiempo, o comparando dos o más fincas bajo diferentes manejos o estados de transición. Se evidencia también que de las tres fincas la finca 1 es la cercana a alcanzar la sostenibilidad. Con respecto al resto de las fincas los valores fueron superiores debido a que en este sistema se realizan las labores de preparación de suelo con tracción mínima, se aplica materia orgánica y los fertilizantes que se emplean son biológicos, existe una mayor diversidad genética en el lugar, hay rotaciones de cultivos, el uso de policultivos y asociaciones es mayor.

Abstract
The sector of Febres-Cordero, is however a region that embraces the territory of the canton Babahoyo, in which concentrate big agricultural resources for the country, it contrasts with the drop dynamic economic present, associated to the presence of very low social indicators. The area of "Río Chico " it is located in the north sector of the study area, located in the latitude 1º23'16" South and in the longitude 79º 26' 32" West, with an altitude averages of 27 meters of the level of the sea. The objective of this investigation was to determine the sostenibilidad of the production in three properties producers in the environment of the family agriculture. Three UPA's of agricultural production was investigated and they were distributed in serial spacing with DATUM PSD 94. For the determination of the sostenibilidad the main IGS was used, with the mensuration of dialogue of knowledge, shops of the future, observations and direct mensurations, you interview and informal interviews with the peasants, an analysis FODA and the evaluation of the sustentabilidad. The results determined the developed methodology it allowed to either evaluate through indicators, the agricultural properties in a quick, simple way and participativa the sostenibilidad comparing the evolution of oneself through the time, or comparing two or more properties under different handlings or transition states. It is also evidenced that of the three properties the property 1 are the near one to reach the sostenibilidad. With regard to the rest of the properties the values were superior because in this system they are carried out the works of floor preparation with minimum traction, it is applied organic matter and the fertilizers that are used they are biological, a bigger genetic diversity exists in the place, there are rotations of cultivations, the policultivos use and associations it is bigger.
