RESUMEN
El objetivo de la investigación es caracterizar el impacto de un programa de lectura para comprender cuál es el nivel de acción positiva del mismo en los estudiantes del sistema de educación rural, para elaborar este proceso se desarrolló una metodología: analítica, cuantitativa y descriptiva, el uso de técnicas e instrumentos permitieron realizar un levantamiento de datos que fueron resultados de la investigación, la ficha de evaluación bibliográfica permitió el alcance de los referentes teóricos, la encuesta determinó estadísticamente el nivel del gusto lector; y la entrevista aporto los datos cualitativos para un contraste crítico con el estado situacional de la información. Los resultados indican que los participantes del programa de vinculación “Manabí crece leyendo” quedaron con hábitos lectores, mientras otros se encuentran en el desarrollo de los mismos.  En este aspecto es importante mencionar que los propósitos de lectura pueden estar conformados de la variedad de textos, procesos que se encuentran vinculados en el trabajo lector y que especifican análisis interpretativos y comprensivos. La intervención de la Universidad en los procesos de vinculación con la colectividad, hace énfasis en mejorar la actividad de su extensión como mecanismo de acción positiva; promoviendo estrategias directas, para la resolución de fenómenos direccionados hacia la cultura lectora. La lectura como ente generador de conocimiento, permite generar cambios sociales y culturales en generaciones contemporáneas, para aquello el hábito lector es tangible en la formación profesional y en la formación personal; al mismo tiempo exterioriza cambios significativos en actuaciones positivas y proactivas que manifiesten una interrelación asertiva.

ABSTRACT
The objective of the research is to characterize the impact of a reading program to understand what the level of positive action is in the students of the rural education system, to develop this process a methodology was developed: analytical, quantitative and descriptive, the The use of techniques and instruments allowed for a survey of data that were the results of the research, the bibliographic evaluation record allowed the scope of the theoretical references, the survey statistically determined the level of reading taste; and the interview provided the qualitative data for a critical contrast with the situational state of the information. The results indicate that the participants of the linking program "Manabí grows reading" remained with reading habits, while others are in the development of them. In this regard it is important to mention that the purposes of reading can be shaped by the variety of texts, processes that are linked in the reading work and that specify interpretive and comprehensive analyzes. The intervention of the University in the processes of connection with the community, emphasizes to improve the activity of its extension as a mechanism of positive action; promoting direct strategies, for the resolution of phenomena directed towards the reading culture. Reading as a generator of knowledge, allows to generate social and cultural changes in contemporary generations, for that reading habit is tangible in professional training and personal training; At the same time, it shows significant changes in positive and proactive actions that manifest an assertive interrelation
