RESUMEN
El desarrollo de la industria del plástico en Cuba ocupa un lugar prioritario en las estrategias de trabajo del Ministerio de la Industria Cubana (MINDUS), pues tienen un impacto importante en todas las actividades que realizan los diferentes organismos que conforman la economía nacional. Sin embargo, impactan negativamente en el medioambiente pues consumen grandes cantidades de energía y los desechos generados no son biodegradables, lo que influye en la sostenibilidad. En este sentido la gestión del proceso de mantenimiento debe contribuir a la mejora de la sostenibilidad. Este proceso resulta imprescindible para el correcto funcionamiento de cualquier organización debido a que los fallos funcionales pueden influir negativamente en la seguridad, el medioambiente, los costos, la calidad y la productividad. No obstante, resulta insuficiente la aplicación de herramientas, métodos y técnicas que orienten la gestión del proceso de mantenimiento al logro de la sostenibilidad. El objetivo de la presente investigación es diseñar un procedimiento, que permita mejorar la gestión del proceso de mantenimiento con un enfoque sostenible en esta industria. Como resultados se elaboró un procedimiento compuesto por cuatro fases y doce pasos. La valoración del procedimiento a través de la aplicación del método Delphi, evidenció el consenso sobre el adecuado sustento teórico, coherencia y concreción de los enfoques estratégico, sistémico e integrado, así como la pertinencia para solucionar el problema científico de la investigación.

SUSTAINABILITY AND MAINTENANCE PROCESS MANAGEMENT IN THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY IN CUBA
ABSTRACT
The development of the plastics industry in Cuba occupies a priority place in the work strategies of the Ministry of Cuban Industry (MINDUS), since they have an important impact on all the activities carried out by the different organizations that make up the national economy. However, they have a negative impact on the environment because they consume large amounts of energy and the waste generated is not biodegradable, which affects sustainability. In this sense, the management of the maintenance process must contribute to the improvement of sustainability. This process is essential for the proper functioning of any organization because functional failures can have a negative impact on safety, the environment, costs, quality and productivity. However, the application of tools, methods and techniques that guide the management of the maintenance process to achieve sustainability is insufficient. The objective of this research is to design a procedure to improve the management of the maintenance process with a sustainable approach in this industry. As a result, a procedure composed of four phases and twelve steps was elaborated. The evaluation of the procedure through the application of the Delphi method, evidenced the consensus on the adequate theoretical support, coherence and concreteness of the strategic, systemic and integrated approaches, as well as the relevance to solve the scientific problem of the research.
