RESUMEN
El objetivo de esta investigación es evidenciar el rol de la Geografía Turística del Ecuador en la formación del profesional en Turismo de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí, experiencia de la Carrera de Turismo en tiempos de pandemia del Covid-19. La metodología de la investigación adopta un enfoque exploratorio y descriptivo, analiza los resultados de los instrumentos utilizados en el modelo de enseñanza-aprendizaje virtual de la carrera de Turismo. Es de tipo cuantitativo y cualitativo, integra técnicas de análisis y síntesis, inducción-deducción, modelación, encuestas, entrevistas y tratamiento estadístico de los resultados. Los resultados cuantitativos y cualitativos muestran la experiencia vivida por alumnos y docentes durante los dos períodos académicos desarrollados en los años 2020 -2021 en el segundo nivel de la Carrera de Turismo y del análisis de las ideas prejuiciadas por parte de los estudiantes que encasillan de manera frecuente como meramente teórico los saberes de la Geografía Turística sin conciencia de su aplicabilidad práctica en su futura profesión. Los resultados obtenidos abren nuevas sendas sobre: sostenibilidad, ordenamiento, planificación e interpretación para el profesional del Turismo que se forma en la Universidad Técnica de Manabí.

ABSTRACT
The objective of this research is to demonstrate the role of the Tourist Geography of Ecuador in the training of professionals in Tourism at the Technical University of Manabí, experience of the Tourism Career in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research methodology adopts an exploratory and descriptive approach, analyzes the results of the instruments used in the virtual teaching-learning model of the Tourism career. It is quantitative and qualitative, integrates techniques of analysis and synthesis, induction-deduction, modeling, surveys, interviews and statistical treatment of the results. The quantitative and qualitative results show the experience lived by students and teachers during the two academic periods developed in the years 2020 -2021 in the second level of the Tourism Career and the analysis of prejudiced ideas by students who classify in a way The knowledge of Tourist Geography is frequent as merely theoretical, without awareness of its practical applicability in their future profession. The results obtained open new paths on sustainability, ordering, planning and interpretation for the Tourism professional who is trained at the Technical University of Manabí.
