Resumen
En América Latina han existido numerosas figuras que sin provenir de una formación pedagógica han ejercido una influencia educativa en los pueblos desde su posición de dirigente político, económico, artístico o religioso. Ellos han sido llamados educadores sociales, porque aspiran a educar a sus semejantes incitándolos a la participación; se proponen despertar conciencia, desatar las fuerzas internas de sus semejantes, impulsar el alma ajena para que se encuentre así misma. Precisamente en esa línea se inscribe el presente artículo el cual revela aquellas dimensiones que caracterizan a Hugo Chávez Frías como un educador social. El arribo a tales inferencias es el resultado de un minucioso trabajo de análisis documental en los diversos textos que se relacionan con su obra.

Abstract
In Latin America there have been numerous figures that, without coming from a pedagogical formation, have exerted an educational influence on the peoples from their position of political, economic, artistic or religious leader. They have been called social educators, because they aspire to educate their peers by encouraging them to participate; they intend to awaken conscience, unleash the internal forces of their peers, push the soul of others to find themselves. Precisely along this line the present article is inscribed, which reveals those dimensions that characterize Hugo Chávez Frías as a social educator. The arrival to such inferences is the result of a thorough work of documentary analysis in the various texts that relate to his work.
