LEER EN EL SIGLO XXI: ESTUDIO DEL HÁBITO DE LA LECTURA EN LA PROVINCIA DE SANCTI SPÍRITUS, CUBA

RESUMEN

Con el avance de las tecnologías se han diversificado las formas de leer y los tipos de lectores, por lo cual se prevee una coexistencia del libro en diversos formatos y el aumento de la lectura en medios electrónicos. El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar los tipos de lectura y lectores que caracterizan la era digital en la provincia de Sancti Spíritus. Se utilizó la metodología cuantitativa y la principal técnica empleada fue la encuesta. La población objeto de estudio fueron las personas mayores de 10 años residentes en la provincia de Sancti Spíritus.  La muestra seleccionada fue probabilística y estratificada. Los resultados se obtuvieron a partir de la medición de los indicadores de gusto por la lectura, frecuencia, motivos por los cuales se lee, géneros preferidos, temáticas que se leen, elementos que se tienen en cuenta para seleccionar un material e importancia que se le concede a la lectura. A partir del análisis de los datos se concluyó que en la población espirituana se mantiene un gusto por la lectura libros, revistas y periódicos en su formato tradicional, aunque se observa una tendencia hacia la lectura de textos en dispositivos electrónicos.

READ IN THE XXI CENTURY: STUDY OF THE HABIT OF READING IN THE PROVINCE OF SANCTI SPÍRITUS, CUBA

ABSTRACT

With technological advances, the ways of reading and the types of readers have diversified, so a coexistence of books in various formats and an increase in reading in electronic media is expected. The objective of this study is to analyze the types of reading and readers tha characterize the digital age in the province of Sancti Spíritus. The quantitative methodology was used and the main technique used was the survey. The population under study were people over 10 years old residing in said province. The selected sample was probabilistic and stratified. The results were obtained from the measurement of the indicators of liking for reading, frequency, reasons why it is read, preferred genres, topics that are read, elements that are taken into account to select a material and importance that is given to reading. It was concluded that the Sancti Spíritus population maintains a taste for reading in its traditional format, although there is a trend towards reading texts in electronic devices.
