TURISMO ASTRONÓMICO: O CASO DO OBSERVATÓRIO DO LAGO DE ALQUEVA (OLA) NO ALENTEJO - PORTUGAL

Resumo

Os destinos turísticos com possibilidades para a prática do turismo astronómico podem contribuir fortemente para o desenvolvimento sustentável de uma região e reforçar a captação de turistas. O Observatório do Lago Alqueva (OLA) apresenta um conjunto de atividades na área da astronomia que não só contribui para diferenciar a oferta turística na região Alentejo (Portugal), mas também para um destino turístico mais sustentável. O presente artigo é exploratório e descreve as atividades astronómicas desenvolvidas pelo Observatório do Lago de Alqueva (OLA) e a sua importância para o desenvolvimento da atividade turística na região Alentejo, especialmente no concelho de Reguengos de Monsaraz.

ASTRONOMICAL TOURISM: THE CASE OF THE ALQUEVA LAKE OBSERVATORY (OLA) IN ALENTEJO – PORTUGAL

Abstract

Tourist destinations with possibilities for the practice of astronomical tourism can contribute strongly to the sustainable development of a region and reinforce the attraction of tourists. The Alqueva Lake Observatory (OLA) presents a set of activities in the area of astronomy that not only contributes to differentiate the tourist offer in the Alentejo region (Portugal), but also to a more sustainable tourist destination. This article is exploratory and describes the astronomical activities developed by the Observatory of the Lake of Alqueva (OLA) and its importance for the development of tourist activity in the Alentejo region, especially in the municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz.
