Irma Adelman, 1930-
Nascuta in Romania, a crescut in Statele Unite obtinandu-si toate titlurile universitare la Universitatea din California, Berkeley. A fost profesoara la Berkeley, Stanford, John Hopkins, Northwestern, Maryland si in Leiden (Olanda). A lucrat si pentru Banca Mondiala.
Cele mai importante contributii ale sale in cadrul economiei incearca sa aplice modelele matematice in planificarea dezvoltarii. A folosit tehnici de analiza cu variabile multiple pentru studierea interactiunilor dintre fortele politice, sociale si economice in tarile in dezvoltare.
